Raja
Chatterjee
production assistant
Raja in Madhubani, Bihar
Raja
should really be called an expeditor or facilitator, for he has aided Julian
Crandall Hollick in innumerable practical ways on many of his programs about
India. The eldest of six brothers, Raja lived his early life in what is now
Bangladesh. In the aftermath of the 1971 war between India and Pakistan that
led to the birth of Bangladesh, Raja fled to Kolkata, where he lived as a
refugee in Sealdah station for many months. A published poet and assistant
producer in Tollywood, Kolkata's film complex, Raja has also worked as a live
interpreter on all our programs in northeast India, including Letters from
Jitvapur, Passages to India, Durga Puja and all our programs
about Kolkata. Raja died suddenly in Kolkata in 2010.
