Javed in Karachi

          In the early years of Julian's acquaintance with Javed, Javed simply taught Western philosophy at Jamshoro University in Hyderabad, Pakistan. But over the years he accompanied Julian more and more frequently, first revealing himself as a very fine live interpreter from the local Sindh dialect to English, and later as an able assistant producer, guiding Julian through the intricacies and protocol of living amongst the Tabligh-i-Jama'at in Karachi and Lahore. Javed, who is Nafisa Hoodboy's husband, is currently doing research for his PhD in Amherst and works as a counselor in the Amherst Shelter for Adolescents.
