Rana Behal
assistant producer & interpreter

Rana in Madhubani, India

Rana was born in Punjab and educated at Delhi University. He is a professor of History in one of the constituent colleges in the University, specializing in British colonial rule in India. Rana has also been a visiting professor at Cornell. He has worked extensively for IBA as an assistant producer and on-air interpreter in many of our Indian programs, notably Passages to India and Letters from Jitvapur. His fluency and ability to sound as if he could be the actual person he was interpreting is such that NPR once mistook Rana's interpretation for the original voice of a Sikh political leader and featured it as the on-air lead-in on All Things Considered.
